Lead Optimization via Your Website
From a 2016 Jumplead Study, 85% of B2B marketers reported that lead generation was their most important content marketing goal. We hear it all the time: “Do you want to generate more business to your website?”
C’mon…
I was guilty too – using it as a marketing “hook” for YEARS until I knew exactly how to simplify this into several actionable steps for website managers (and business owners). I had the “a-ha!” moment when conversing with my Villanova Business School Mentor (and published Value Prop author) – Jose Palomino. Jose indicated to me the subtle – but distinct – differences between lead generation and lead optimization.
While “lead generation” deals with the direct act of converting traffic into customers/business/etc, “lead optimization” focuses on the strategic positioning and content-related behavior, enabling a website to effectively (and simply) attract qualified leads in the long run.
Bruce...what the hell are you talking about?
According to a HubSpot survey, Nearly 45% of marketers say that content creation is a focal point of their overall marketing strategies for customers.
By creating new, industry appropriate content on our recently-launched agency website: www.designwithartisan.com – we were able to generate 953 views and five “5” direct form submissions in less than a week! This came mostly from organic content creation, which complemented our on/off-page SEO strategies (in a cost effective manner).
With SEO increasing in popularity as a form of generating website traffic, very few know how to effectively leverage this in order to position their website for lead optimization (without having to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on PPC, Ads, and under-delivering marketing agencies). If your website passes the following seven “7” tests – consider yourself in a sound position for lead optimization:
1.) Lead Magnets – Pop-ups, with a compelling “call-to-action” will help you to collect information of potential prospects and new clients.
2.) Mobile Optimization – A high-performing mobile website will always rank higher on Google compared to one that isn’t.
3.) Blogs – Personalized articles that contain topics and popular key search terms will almost certainly improve your site’s SEO ranking.
4.) Photography/Videography – Nearly 65% of website viewers will leave your homepage if they feel that it looks outdated or unappealing. Invest in quality images or stock photos as best as you can.
5.) Google Business Profile – Having an address, “call” button, and reviews section gives legitimacy and professionalism to your brand.
6.) Off-Page SEO – Backlinks, or places on the world wide web where your content appears (pointing back to your site), will invariably improve your Google ranking – driving the right leads to your website!
7.) A Disciplined Sales Approach – Offering prospects a “Free 15-Minute Consultation,” something we also do, can help build trust, loyalty, and overall long-term customer “equity” to your brand.
